The Fly Agaric Amanita muscaria must rate as the most illustrated fungus but despite the exposure I still find it to be a photogenic subject.
The Fly Agaric is always associated with Birch trees and represents a widely recognised example of a specific association between fungal and tree species.
The characteristic white flecks on its richly coloured cap are remnants of the ruptured universal veil.
