An "arty" image of the Lady Orchid Orchis purpurea photographed in Kent. This plant is another example of an uncommon variant that lacks anthocyanin pigments leading to a green coloured hood and the absence of red lip marking.
I have an especial interest in this type of variant Lady Orchid and the subtle differences shown by mutants found within different populations and locations around Europe.
I have published a small article on this variation in the Journal of the Hardy Orchid Society and a web adapted version can be viewed in the Articles section.
